About The Position

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer is responsible for the procurement of goods and services for the Regional Centre. The work involves frequent contact with vendors, user departments and individuals at all levels of the Regional Centre.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent required
• Two (2) year post-secondary program in Business or equivalent required
• Completion or enrolment in courses from the Supply Chain Management Association of Canada Accreditation Program and/or National Institute of Governmental Purchasing Professional Development Program and/or a NECI Public Sector Procurement Program (PSPP)
• Ability to work in a self-directed environment and also effectively within an interdisciplinary team
• A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in procurement
• Must have personal integrity and excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Experience in procurement in a government environment (i.e. processing quotations, tenders, proposals, purchase orders, etc.)
• Proficient in SAP or S/4HANA ERP and ARIBA
• Diplomacy and discretion in dealing with personnel and the general public.
• High degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
• Excellent organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced working knowledge and proficiency with a variety of computer software applications, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook).
