About The Position
The Buyer purchases materials according to technical specifications, price, delivery schedules, and terms, while ensuring purchasing activities comply with corporate policies and procedures. The role identifies new suppliers in cooperation with the relevant category team and supports the Motion product group’s Traction business in North America. This is an onsite position reporting to the Supply Chain Manager - Traction. The Buyer initiates purchase orders from requisitions, confirms and tracks supplier deliveries and performance, negotiates supplier agreements, renews price lists and terms, recommends frame agreements for management approval, and evaluates bids to determine optimal value. The position calls for manufacturing purchasing experience, procurement and supply-management knowledge, and the ability to maintain internal and external partnerships. Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing purchasing department.
- Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience, or a master's degree and at least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing purchasing department.
- Experience with ERP systems, including SAP, and relevant tools and methodologies.
- Working experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Relevant experience in the electrical industry or manufacturing sector.
- Experience in supply management and quality processes, projects, contract law, commercial terms, standard procurement procedures, and related company policies.
- Ability to maintain partnerships with internal and external collaborators.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must already have work authorization permitting employment with ABB in the United States.
Responsibilities

- Ensure purchasing activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures.
- Identify new suppliers in cooperation with the relevant category team.
- Initiate purchase orders in the system according to purchase requisitions and standard procedures.
- Confirm deliveries with suppliers and monitor and track supplier performance against purchase order requirements.
- Negotiate agreements with main suppliers and periodically renew price lists and terms and conditions.
- Recommend frame agreements to management and execute them upon approval.
- Analyze and evaluate bids to determine optimal value.
