About The Position

Buyers are responsible for procurement of goods, quality compliance and inventory management. This is a full-time, salary-exempt position with full benefits. The role is onsite and operates on a Day Shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Essential functions include wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required, sitting for long periods of time, and using upper body, arms, and hands throughout the day. Periodic lifting of 5-10 pounds is also required.

Requirements

Knowledge of purchasing concepts, practices and procedures
Knowledge of purchasing system software and inventory management systems
Ability to understand engineering drawings, budgets and contract language
Strong negotiation and customer service skills
Ability to review, analyze, and interpret various reports
Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing; technical writing a plus
Ability to work professionally in team environment and with other departmental teams
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Must be able to work independently with minimal direction and oversight
High ethical standards
High attention to detail

Purchasing agent certification is a plus

Responsibilities

Manages supply chain risks
Builds long-term, collaborative relationships with preferred suppliers
Procures customized items
Evaluates supplier quotes and services
Evaluates supplier performance
Identifies qualified vendors for difficult to source items
Evaluates cost savings opportunities and present findings
Evaluates forecasts to maintain desired inventory levels
Prepares, issues, and maintains purchase orders for timely delivery
Execute inventory replenishment requests
Maintain factory shortage report
Assists in the investigation of non-conforming materials and takes corrective action
Assists in the reconciliation of receiving/invoicing/billing discrepancies
Coordinates the return of non-conforming material
Maintains procurement records, including ERP data and notations
Other purchasing duties as assigned
