Requirements

Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures.
Knowledge of products associated with the aerospace and defense industry as well as the industrial seal industry.
Superior skill in both verbal and written communication.
Competence in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Must be detail oriented with strong follow up skills.
Experience with ERP or MRP systems or purchasing software
Above average Microsoft office skills
Associates degree in related field and one year of buying experience; OR, Five years of buying experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Responsibilities

Administers purchase orders from approval phase through order placement and acknowledgment.
Manages Strategic Partner open backlog to ensure timely delivery of products and minimize past dues.
Identification and selection of cost-effective logistics providers.
Clear and concise communication with both internal and external contacts. Schedules regular calls with supplier base.
Recommends and creates inventory planning models to satisfy customer demands and optimize turns.
Processes unique purchasing transactions according to company policy and ASA or ISO standards, industry specifications, and government regulations.
Identifies and selects strategic suppliers to procure products, meeting criteria such as price, quantity, quality and delivery date.
In some instances, the Buyer will be responsible for the oversight of customs clearance requirements.
Works with Product Management to ensure the correct products are in place to achieve sales forecast and order fill rates.
Supports kitting programs with sourcing components and releasing jobs into production.
Builds and maintains effective working relationships with suppliers and internal personnel.
Inventory planning and freight cost reduction.
