About The Position

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Procurement Specialist is part of the procurement team mandated to plan and implement activities related to the procurement of goods and services. The Specialist Procurement is an experienced professional with proficient knowledge of job area and practical knowledge of project management. May manage projects or processes with general supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of job area.
  • May have practical knowledge of project management.
  • Proficiency with SAP MRP systems SAP is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Bilingual French/English (oral and written).
  • Strong organizational skills, autonomy, and teamwork.
  • Ability to read technical documents, specification, procedures and drawings.
  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance.
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with SAP MRP systems SAP is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support all procurement activities for built to print components and other assigned commodities.
  • Follow up on all contracts/purchase orders through completion of order.
  • Negotiates with suppliers and analyzes suppliers operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines the lowest cost taking into account quality, reliability and ability to meet required schedules.
  • Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, and maintains necessary records.
  • Prepare request for proposals (RFP) and bid packages.
  • Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes.
  • Support internal customer with procurement for R&D projects.
  • Follow up KPIs and take appropriate actions to meet Company required results.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Communicates with contacts inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures.
  • Recommends enhancements to systems and processes.
  • Works to achieve operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results.
