About The Position

The Buyer – Radio Control is responsible for developing and managing product assortments across radio control and hobby categories, including RC vehicles, model kits, parts, and hobby products. This role owns purchasing strategy, vendor relationships, inventory planning, and purchase order issuance to maintain optimal product assortment and in stock rates and inventory level. The ideal candidate combines analytical decision-making with strong product knowledge and vendor partnership skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–4+ years of buying, merchandising, or category management experience (retail or eCommerce).
  • Strong negotiation, vendor management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in Excel/Sheets and reporting tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing the product life cycle with outside suppliers and manufacturers
  • Experience working with a mid-large size online retailer
  • Knowledge and passion for radio control and hobby product strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Source, purchase, and manage inventory for product categories (RC, models, collectibles, STEM kits, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain vendor, manufacturer, and distributor relationships to secure favorable pricing, allocations, and product opportunities.
  • Analyze sales performance, consumer demand, and market trends to inform purchasing strategies.
  • Forecast demand and manage inventory levels to balance availability, profitability, and working capital.
  • Collaborate with marketing, merchandising, and operations teams to support promotions, seasonal campaigns, and product launches.
  • Ensure accurate product setup, descriptions, and pricing across sales channels.
  • Monitor and report on category performance, inventory levels, and vendor performance.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and promotional opportunities with vendors.
  • Monitor supplier KPIs (In Stock Rates, sell-through, inventory turns, GMROI) and implement action plans to address gaps.
