About The Position

McGard LLC is seeking a highly talented and motivated Buyer II to join their dynamic team. This role involves managing the procurement of materials, supplies, and services to support production and operational needs. The position requires sourcing, expediting, negotiating, and maintaining supplier relationships, while also contributing to process improvement and vendor performance initiatives. McGard has been a trusted name in the automotive industry for over 60 years, specializing in manufacturing high-quality, precision-engineered automotive security products and components.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
  • Associate’s degree in business, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Two to five (2–5) years’ of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and understanding of supply chain best practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience in the operation of computers.
  • Knowledge of standard purchasing procedures and practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification (i.e., CPSM, CPIM) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the procurement of materials, supplies, and services to support production and operational needs.
  • Sourcing, expediting, negotiating, and maintaining supplier relationships.
  • Contributing to process improvement and vendor performance initiatives.
  • Ensuring the achievement of continuous improvement within area of expertise and business areas to meet Company objectives.
  • Completing and maintaining all required safety classes, trainings, and certifications.
  • Understanding the relevance and importance of their activities and how they contribute to quality objectives.
  • Working regularly scheduled shifts, with the ability to work overtime and weekends.
  • Complying with related IATF/ISO procedures.
  • Meeting qualitative and quantitative standards for the position and department.
  • Independently managing procurement of chemicals, MRO supplies, and production materials.
  • Expediting and monitoring delivery of critical materials, especially for high-priority or rush jobs.
  • Executing quotations and maintaining competitive sourcing practices.
  • Coordinating closely with planning and production teams on material availability and schedule changes.
  • Tracing and resolving delayed or missing shipments, working with suppliers to ensure delivery commitments are met.
  • Reviewing and approving receiving and billing documentation for accuracy and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Conducting ongoing supplier market research and supporting vendor evaluations to optimize sourcing decisions.
  • Recommending and implementing improvements in purchasing procedures and systems.
  • Providing mentorship or support to junior buyers as needed.
  • Supporting continuous improvement efforts and driving efficiency in the procurement process.
