Our team members work vigorously to meet our customers’ needs. No two days are the same! Crofton is seeking a Buyer II to join our team. The ideal Buyer II is highly organized, detailed oriented, has a basic understanding of procurement processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. As a Buyer II, you will be responsible for assisting with the procurement of goods and services, ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing decisions, and maintaining strong supplier relationships.

Requirements

  • Ability to prioritize and resolve issues in a timely manner with high attention to detail.
  • Possess basic understanding of purchasing principles and vendor management.
  • Clear, concise and professional verbal and written communication skills, with proven negotiation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to confidently present information, such as purchasing strategies or contract details, to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Thorough understanding of materials and supplies used in the company.
  • Ability to work in and adapt to a fast pace dynamic environment, adjusting priorities, maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, ERP Systems, or related software.
  • Exceptional Interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain a professional tone and demeanor in all interactions whether in person, on the phone, or via email.
  • Must be able to take initiative, work independently, and as part of a team.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years’ experience in purchasing, procurement or supply chain role.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or degree in business, supply chain management or related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other departments to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions to meet common goals.
  • Assesses current material availability; reasonably predicts future availability based on the market, delivery systems, and other variables.
  • Prepares and processes accurate and organized records of purchasing activities, including purchase orders, invoices, and legally compliant contracts.
  • Coordinates removal or disposal of surplus materials.
  • Write reports summarizing data and findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Cultivates strong relationships with suppliers, potential suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders by being dependable, responsive, and approachable.
  • Resolves issues with vendors, contactors and suppliers.
  • Assists with invoice reconciliations.
  • Supports the development and implementation of purchasing strategies and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
