About The Position

Slate is looking for an energetic, organized, experienced CapEx Buyer to join our growing team that brings a “roll up the sleeves” approach to getting things done, as responsibilities will be wide ranging. Important skills include accountability, strategic thinking, relationship building, business case analysis, and negotiation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant experience
  • 4-5+ years of experience in Procurement/Supply Chain Management or Engineering
  • Experience purchasing CapEx commodities is preferred
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Ability to identify process issues and drive improvements to improve operational efficiency
  • Knowledge and experience with ERP systems and implementation – i.e. SAP, Plex, NetSuite
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • High level of integrity
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strategic supply base.
  • Lead supplier commercial negotiations and manage supplier relationships.
  • Manage RFQs, commercial agreements, and sourcing processes to meet program cost targets and Job 1 timing.
  • Quote and negotiate pricing with suppliers for CapEx, MRO, and Returnables -related purchases.
  • Purchase custom integrated solutions and off-the-shelf components for Body Shop, Coating Shop, Manufacturing Software, General Assembly Equipment, and more.
  • Resolve cost, quality, and delivery issues impacting the factory.
  • Collaborate with systems development and quality teams to drive supplier strategies and improvements.
  • Identify and implement cost reductions and value improvements.
  • Independently negotiate and ensure suppliers adhere to Re:Car dba SLATE’s Global Terms and Conditions.
  • Analyze internal and external data to optimize sourcing decisions.
  • Proactively communicate risks and priorities to ensure timely resolution.

Benefits

  • The expected base salary range offered for this role is $96,000-$120,000. Compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location.
