About The Position

This position is responsible for purchasing supplies, equipment, and services for the school district. The Buyer I will work within the Purchasing and Warehousing department, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of necessary items.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience in purchasing or a related field.
  • Knowledge of purchasing principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in business administration or a related field.
  • Experience with public sector purchasing.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft or other ERP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase supplies, equipment, and services for the school district.
  • Solicit bids and proposals from vendors.
  • Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers.
  • Prepare purchase orders and requisitions.
  • Maintain vendor files and records.
  • Assist with inventory management and warehousing operations.
  • Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Respond to inquiries from district staff regarding purchasing matters.
