About The Position

Bussers play a key role in delivering the superior guest service central to Eddie Merlot’s mission. They set and reset dining room tables, refill water glasses, serve bread, restock clean plates, silverware, and glassware, and respond to guest needs. Bussers partner with Servers, Bartenders, and other team members to provide outstanding service and hospitality. The role may include work at meetings, banquets, and special events, with workdays and hours varying according to business needs.

Requirements

Meet the state age requirement for the position.
Be able to read and communicate clearly and effectively in English.
Maintain professional attire and appearance in keeping with restaurant standards.
Have professional communication and social skills appropriate for guests.
Be self-motivated and able to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
Have a strong teamwork orientation, be well organized, and be able to take direction from others.
Be able to work a flexible, part-time schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Be able to stand for four or more hours at a time.
Be able to lift and carry 35 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally.
Be able to lift and carry loaded trays and move tables and chairs.
Have the physical ability to grasp, stoop, reach, balance, move tables, and perform similar job-related movements.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED.
Prior restaurant, fine dining, or customer service experience.
Understanding of dining room service procedures, safety, sanitation, and food-handling procedures.

Responsibilities

Complete required initial and ongoing training modules.
Know the weekly work schedule, arrive on time, and meet uniform and professional appearance standards.
Communicate with the Manager about reservations, guest flow, large parties, and special event needs.
Set up the station and dining room according to standard procedures.
Maintain an assigned dining room section and help in other sections as needed.
Bake bread; serve bread and butter and provide refills.
Keep guests’ water glasses filled.
Maintain tables and remove dishes, glassware, and silverware according to standards.
Package take-home items correctly and deliver them to guests.
When appropriate, thank guests for dining and invite them to return.
Bus, set, and reset tables according to specifications.
Perform side duties, closing duties, and other related duties assigned by Managers.
Keep service stations clean and orderly throughout the shift.
Know enough about Eddie Merlot’s to provide guests with basic information.
Follow company policies, procedures, standards, and performance expectations, as well as applicable liquor, food-handling, sanitation, and safety laws and regulations.
Communicate guest requests, complaints, and ideas for improvement to Managers.
Work meetings, banquets, and special events when scheduled.
Support a positive team environment by assisting team members with station duties and sidework when needed or available.
