About The Position

Kent Power is seeking a Business Unit Director to lead and grow our Indiana operations. This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for the performance, people, and trajectory of the region. You’ll oversee day‑to‑day operations while shaping long‑term strategy—balancing execution with growth, and leadership with accountability. As the senior operational leader for Indiana, you’ll guide multiple departments across safety, financial performance, operational delivery, and quality. You’ll build strong teams, strengthen customer and stakeholder relationships, and ensure work is executed to Kent Power’s standards in a fast‑moving utility construction environment. This role is well‑suited for a decisive, collaborative leader who enjoys ownership—someone who can think strategically, act practically, and lead from the front. You’ll be trusted to run the business, develop leaders, and position the region for sustained growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree specializing in business administration, construction management, or another relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of project/program management experience or a combination of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex operational and financial data to guide decisions, improve performance, and drive accountability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Suite of products; specifically, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, manage, and execute tasks on competing projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various parties.
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail, ensure precision and accuracy in all tasks and deliverables.
  • Ability to identify issues and utilize effective problem-solving skills to design solutions.
  • Effective time management skills, optimize productivity and meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to analyze complex problems, break them down into manageable components, and formulate effective solutions.
  • Ability to remain agile in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set the direction for the Indiana business unit by developing and executing strategic plans that drive growth and performance.
  • Lead day‑to‑day operations across multiple departments, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.
  • Own financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring KPIs to ensure targets are met.
  • Build, mentor, and lead department heads while fostering strong collaboration and accountability across teams.
  • Establish and improve policies, processes, and systems that support operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
  • Champion continuous improvement—identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and results.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and industry partners.
  • Address operational challenges and conflicts with clarity, urgency, and sound judgment.
  • Communicate goals, expectations, and priorities clearly at all levels of the organization.
  • Lead and support change initiatives that strengthen the business and prepare the region for future growth.
  • Establish and monitor data-driven performance dashboards and metrics.
  • Use data analytics and performance insights to guide strategic and operational decisions, anticipate risks, and prioritize investments that improve execution and profitability.
