About The Position

The Business Unit Director is responsible for end‑to‑end ownership of a global customer business unit focused on connected living and digital commerce solutions. This role leads customer strategy, financial performance, and operational execution across multiple global sites, translating long‑term strategic objectives into scalable operational plans. The Director serves as the senior commercial and operational leader for the business, driving profitable growth, customer satisfaction, and portfolio expansion across hardware, software, automation, and design‑led manufacturing solutions serving frontline industries including retail, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, and beyond. This position carries full accountability for P&L performance, customer relationship management, complex commercial negotiations, and cross‑functional alignment spanning Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Design, and Finance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 12–15+ years of progressive experience across business management, operations, supply chain, and customer leadership roles in a manufacturing environment.
  • 4+ years of people leadership experience.
  • Proven success managing large, complex global accounts with full P&L accountability.
  • Strong background in contract negotiation, pricing strategy, and customer portfolio expansion.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into operational execution at scale.
  • Executive‑level communication and influence skills with customers and internal leadership.
  • In addition to standard BUD requirements, engineering & design experience background will be needed.

  • Experience working with connected hardware, software, automation, and design‑centric solutions strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Full P&L ownership spanning multiple manufacturing and design sites.
  • Own pricing strategy across materials, value‑add services, Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) and Joint Design Manufacturing (JDM) business models.
  • Develop and manage financial models to support portfolio growth, margin expansion, and long‑term profitability.
  • Accountable for revenue growth, profitability, QBR outcomes, NPS scores, and customer satisfaction metrics.
  • Act as executive sponsor for customer relationships, managing the strategic relationship roadmap from senior leadership through day‑to‑day execution.
  • Drive organic growth while expanding the business beyond current scope into new programs, technologies, and services.
  • Lead highly complex contract negotiations, pricing discussions, volume commitments, and contract addendums with director‑, senior‑director‑, and VP‑level customer stakeholders.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the customer’s end markets, competitive landscape, and industry trends to inform strategy.
  • Ensure consistent customer experience and SLA delivery across all global sites.
  • Lead multi‑site operational execution including supply chain establishment, manufacturing transfers, and new product introductions.
  • Own execution of design‑led manufacturing (JDM) programs, from early design engagement through production ramp.
  • Provide oversight for portfolio strategy, ensuring alignment between customer needs, operational capabilities, and profitability targets.
  • Partner closely with global Design and Engineering organizations in North America and Asia.
  • Interface regularly with senior operations, supply chain, engineering, and executive leadership to resolve complex business challenges.
  • Lead RFP processes for assigned accounts and support broader enterprise opportunities when required.
