Sun Chemical is seeking a Business Unit (SBU) Controller to join our Americas Advanced Materials team. The Controller is responsible for directing and managing all financial and accounting functions within the framework of corporate policy and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position is mainly remote, but some on-site work will be required. Sun Chemical Advanced Materials Division Americas imports, markets, and sells polymers, additives, functional inks, and devices throughout the region. Our Americas team is based in offices in the USA, Mexico and Brazil. The materials that we sell are produced at facilities in Europe and Asia. Our markets are diverse: electronics, automotive, lubricants, food, energy, and medical. Requirements

  • B.S. in Accounting/Finance
  • 4 – 7 years Accounting/Finance in import/export or manufacturing environment
  • Proficient user of MS Office products
  • Strong experience working in SAP.
  • Knowledge of management accounting and inventory systems (variance analysis etc.).
  • Strong analytical/math/critical thinking skills with the ability to comprehend and apply GAAP.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate complex business issues clearly and concisely to department heads and corporate leadership.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills to meet multiple deadlines with minimal supervision are critical.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with procurement, supply chain operations (importation, duty payment etc.), and other corporate departments is preferred.
  • Experience in Sales Force and opportunity validation
  • Experience working in an international environment, particularly with experience of Latin America.

Responsibilities

  • Directing and managing all financial and accounting functions within the framework of corporate policy and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Creating, maintaining and troubleshooting budgets, financial reports, cost accounting, cost center reporting, inventory reporting, valuation and working closely with the central finance functional teams (AP, AR, Treasury Etc.) and the Americas Advanced Materials commercial team to support the business and decision making.
  • Performing all accounting functions, including general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cost accounting.
  • Gathering, processing, and disseminating all financial data and derived statistical analysis to provide information periodically to SBU, Group Controller and Corporate functions.
  • Understanding, communicating, and analyzing variance drivers within the business; identify root cause and actions for each.
  • Working with Finance and Business to understand and drive opportunities for managing costs.
  • Leading and providing analytics on strategic and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Preparing Annual Operating Plan; Compiling data required to prepare budgets and updated forecasts relating future estimated expense levels to sales and production plans.
  • Performing Monthly Close (i.e., Journal Entries, month end analysis report etc.).
  • Providing various financial reports (i.e., cost, savings, variance reporting).
  • Preparing financial data for profitability studies, capital projects, and other special exercises, and conducting post completion audits to verify the validity and profitability of project expenditures.
  • Supporting, validating, and qualifying financial aspects of sales opportunities in Salesforce.
  • Active role and engagement with finance and commercial colleagues (including internationally) as required to support and drive business success.
