About The Position

We are seeking an accomplished Business Transformation Director to lead and drive strategic business transformation initiatives across Panelmatic. This highly visible leadership role is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving the company's Project Management Office (PMO), Stage Gate Process, Project Management standards, business processes, governance frameworks, performance management systems, and digital transformation initiatives. The Business Transformation Director will serve as the business leader responsible for establishing scalable processes, driving operational excellence, improving project execution discipline, and enabling profitable growth across the organization. A key responsibility of this role will be the ownership, governance, and continuous improvement of Panelmatic's Stage Gate Process, ensuring all opportunities, proposals, major projects, and strategic initiatives are evaluated, approved, prioritized, and executed through a disciplined and standardized framework. This leader will manage a small team of PMO professionals, process improvement specialists, and Project Managers while providing strong cross-functional leadership and influence across Commercial, Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, Production, Quality, Finance, Safety, and Operations. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker and execution-focused leader capable of partnering with executive leadership to improve business performance, increase on-time delivery, drive digital transformation, improve operational efficiency, standardize project execution, and enhance project profitability and margins. This position is based in Houston, Texas, with travel up to 20% as required to support business initiatives, operational reviews, and transformation activities. This role is ideal for a leader who enjoys transforming organizations, improving business processes, and driving meaningful change. As Business Transformation Director, you will have the opportunity to influence how the business operates, improve execution across the value chain, enhance customer satisfaction, increase organizational scalability, and establish a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. You will work directly with executive leadership and functional leaders across the organization to identify improvement opportunities, implement strategic initiatives, and establish the processes, systems, tools, governance structures, and performance frameworks required to support the company's continued growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, Operations Management, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • PMP Certification required.
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in Project Management, PMO leadership, business transformation, operational excellence, program management, or strategic business improvement roles.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing PMO processes, procedures, governance frameworks, Project Management standards, tools, KPIs, reporting systems, and organizational maturity models.
  • Proven experience leading Stage Gate governance processes, opportunity reviews, project reviews, portfolio reviews, and executive decision-making forums.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects involving protection and control systems, medium- and low-voltage switchgear, relay panels, motor control centers (MCCs), power distribution equipment, industrial control panels, integrated E-House/control house solutions, and other engineered electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated success improving project execution performance, on-time delivery, operational efficiency, profitability, customer satisfaction, and margin performance through business transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing Project Management training programs, competency frameworks, certification programs, and organizational capability development plans.
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle management from opportunity development through project execution, testing, delivery, and project closeout.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives involving Commercial, Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Operations, Finance, Quality, and Safety organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence leaders and drive organizational change without direct authority.
  • Strong business acumen with experience improving operational performance, delivery performance, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Experience supporting digital transformation, systems implementation, business intelligence, analytics, and process automation initiatives.
  • Excellent executive communication, facilitation, presentation, change management, and stakeholder management skills.

  • MBA or Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience within engineered-to-order manufacturing, industrial, electrical equipment, EPC, utility, power distribution, data center, or infrastructure environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve Panelmatic's Stage Gate Process governing business opportunities, strategic pursuits, proposals, project execution, and major business initiatives.
  • Lead Stage Gate reviews and executive gate review meetings to ensure opportunities and projects meet commercial, operational, technical, financial, resource, risk, and execution readiness requirements before advancing to the next phase.
  • Develop and maintain Stage Gate procedures, governance standards, approval criteria, review requirements, decision-making frameworks, and accountability mechanisms.
  • Drive accountability for Stage Gate compliance across Commercial, Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, Production, Quality, Operations, and Finance.
  • Ensure effective risk identification, resource planning, schedule planning, financial evaluation, margin analysis, and execution readiness throughout the Stage Gate lifecycle.
  • Partner with executive leadership to improve opportunity selection, project startup readiness, execution discipline, project predictability, resource utilization, and overall business performance.
  • Facilitate portfolio reviews and executive decision-making forums to support strategic growth initiatives and capital allocation decisions.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Project Management Office (PMO).
  • Develop and maintain standardized Project Management processes, procedures, tools, templates, governance frameworks, and best practices across the organization.
  • Establish and continuously improve a standardized project execution methodology, governance framework, tools, and best practices to ensure projects are managed consistently across Houston, Sacramento, Youngstown, Brookfield, Vancouver, and future business locations.
  • Develop and standardize project planning, risk management, issue management, change management, forecasting, reporting, and project review processes.
  • Drive initiatives focused on improving on-time delivery, project execution, customer satisfaction, resource utilization, project predictability, and margin performance.
  • Develop and implement project performance metrics, KPIs, dashboards, scorecards, and reporting frameworks to improve visibility, accountability, and decision-making throughout the organization.
  • Develop and maintain project operating rhythms, portfolio review processes, escalation procedures, and project governance requirements.
  • Lead PMO maturity improvement initiatives and establish a culture of project execution excellence throughout the organization.
  • Develop and implement Project Management competency models, training programs, development plans, certification roadmaps, and career progression frameworks.
  • Establish onboarding, mentoring, coaching, and continuing education programs for Project Managers across the organization.
  • Develop implementation plans to improve Project Management capabilities, execution consistency, leadership effectiveness, and overall organizational maturity.
  • Identify capability gaps and implement training initiatives focused on project planning, scheduling, risk management, change management, financial management, customer management, and leadership development.
  • Partner with business leaders to strengthen Project Management capabilities and execution consistency across all locations.
  • Lead initiatives to digitize business processes and improve the use of technology, automation, reporting, analytics, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Partner with functional leaders to identify system improvement opportunities and implement operational efficiencies.
  • Drive development and implementation of dashboards, KPIs, reporting tools, and business intelligence solutions.
  • Support ERP, project management software, workflow automation, and business process improvement initiatives as required.
  • Promote standardization and automation of business processes across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain business performance metrics, organizational KPIs, project delivery metrics, Stage Gate metrics, and transformation scorecards.
  • Establish accountability systems and performance reviews to ensure improvement initiatives deliver measurable results.
  • Monitor business health indicators including project performance, on-time delivery, backlog execution, customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, profitability, and margin performance.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives to address systemic business challenges and operational inefficiencies.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that improve execution performance, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Lead and develop a team of PMO professionals, process improvement specialists, and Project Managers.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, performance management, and career development for assigned team members.
  • Influence Directors, Vice Presidents, and functional leaders to drive alignment and successful implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Build strong partnerships across Commercial, Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, Production, Quality, Finance, and Safety.
  • Lead executive reviews, transformation reviews, business performance reviews, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Act as a catalyst for change while promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
