The Business Technology Specialist translates process improvement initiatives into working technology solutions by coordinating workflow, system, and automation changes across institutional platforms. This role works closely with the Continuous Improvement team, Enterprise Applications, and functional departments to translate operational needs into practical system solutions that improve efficiency, consistency, and user experience. Position is located on the Tarleton State main campus with normal work hours of Monday to Friday; 8am to 5pm or as work requirements indicate. Serves as Campus Security Authority (CSA).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or a related field required.
  • Five years of experience in business systems analysis, technology implementation, enterprise applications, workflow automation, or related roles.
  • Experience working with platforms such as Salesforce, Banner, Canvas LMS, Kuali Build, Microsoft Power Platform, or similar technologies.
  • Experience translating business requirements into system solutions, automation, workflows, or technical specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across technical and functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise systems, workflow automation, and technology-enabled process improvement.
  • Experience configuring, administering, or implementing enterprise applications.
  • Working knowledge of integrations, APIs, data flows, and automation concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate business needs into practical technology solutions.
  • Ability to assess automation and AI-enabled technology capabilities for practical fit, user impact, risk, and operational value.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and institutional processes quickly.
  • Service-oriented mindset focused on improving institutional operations and user experience.
  • Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communication systems, computer networks and systems, and/or cybersecurity systems

  • Experience supporting process improvement or operational change initiatives.
  • Experience supporting responsible adoption of emerging technologies, including automation or AI-enabled tools
  • Experience with workflow automation or reporting tools
  • Familiarity with higher education business processes and data privacy requirements

Responsibilities

  • Translate business requirements into technology solutions.
  • Configure, implement, and support solutions across institutional technology platforms.
  • Design and maintain workflow automation and low-code/no-code solutions.
  • Partner with stakeholders to improve business processes through technology.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Applications and IT teams to deliver scalable solutions.
  • Support evaluation, testing, and implementation of AI-enabled features within approved institutional platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to apply automation and AI-enabled tools to improve business processes, reduce manual effort, and enhance service delivery.
  • Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and solution validation activities.
  • Document requirements, configurations, and implementation outcomes.
  • Evaluate technology capabilities and recommend solution approaches.
  • Communicate technical concepts and solution impacts to stakeholders.
  • Participate in process discovery, solution design, and implementation planning.
  • Support training, adoption, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities in a collaborative environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
