The Maine Department of Labor (DOL) seeks a Business Technology Manager responsible for data security and business continuity strategies, protecting DOL systems and processes as both technology and usage evolve. The individual in this position will operate to ensure that the Department's services to Maine citizens are minimally affected, if at all, and that data is secured in the event of a system failure, data incident, or man-made or natural disaster. While security and continuity are the focus, guidance on general technology matters and areas such as AI are also important. The individual must understand the Department’s programs, goals, and strategies to appropriately advise management on technology options and the possible benefits and risks. A well-rounded background includes experience across multiple IT disciplines, including software development, database administration, and cloud and hybrid infrastructure, enabling end-to-end system design, deployment, and optimization. This position reports to the Deputy Commissioner and is part of the Department’s senior leadership team. While there are no direct reports, the individual will work closely with business managers and technology leads within both DOL and MaineIT. The position also serves as the primary liaison with the IRS and SSA regarding information security matters. Developing solid working relationships and trusted partnerships is critical.
