Business Tax Manager/ Senior Manager (Construction expertise)
About The Position
Mowery & Schoenfeld is seeking an ambitious and curious business tax manager or senior manager with particular interest and expertise in construction clients, mentoring younger staff, seeking ongoing learning, and providing exemplary client service. This role operates as a leader and mentor within the Firm, demonstrating the ability to lead engagements by meeting client needs with a sense of urgency, develop recommendations, and maintain client relationships by balancing client needs with other assignments and deadlines. The ideal candidate will provide proactive advice based on their knowledge of tax law, particularly within business tax, demonstrate initiative to creatively solve issues in collaboration with the lead, and leverage technology to automate both internal and client processes to improve efficiency. They will also act as a mentor to younger staff and work directly with Directors and Partners.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or other relevant discipline
- 5+ years of tax experience in public accounting, with 2+ years in managerial role preferred
- CPA-certified and active license
- Expertise in management of business and entity tax compliance and providing knowledgeable insight into construction clients
- Background and experience managing and actively providing advisory and tax solutions to clients

Responsibilities
- Lead engagements by meeting client needs with a sense of urgency.
- Develop recommendations and maintaining client relationships by balancing the client needs along with other assignments and deadlines.
- Provide proactive advice based on their knowledge of tax law, particularly within business tax.
- Demonstrate initiative to creatively solve issues in collaboration with the lead.
- Leverage technology to automate both internal and client processes to improve efficiency.
