Business Systems Engineer

Slide•Westport, CT
•$130,000 - $150,000

About The Position

Slide is hiring an engineer to automate business operations across sales, finance, support, customer success, operations, and people. The role focuses on identifying manual, repetitive work and eliminating it through integrations, automation, and AI. It is not an IT-support or infrastructure position: IT Operations handles day-to-day IT, and a separate systems team owns product infrastructure. The engineer will focus on improving how the business operates. The role will lead healthy AI adoption by helping teams use AI safely and effectively and by building agentic workflows that reduce manual work. The engineer will report to the CISO, partner with leaders across departments, and independently identify and solve high-impact problems as part of a small Security & IT team. In the first six months, the engineer will assess business processes and publish a prioritized automation backlog with estimated impact; deliver two or three high-impact automations end to end; roll out AI tooling with clear guardrails and publish an AI-use guideline; and establish lightweight standards for building, monitoring, and documenting maintainable automations.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience building automations and integrations across business systems in RevOps/BizOps engineering, solutions/automation engineering, or a similar builder role.
  • A track record of delivering solutions that have saved teams significant time.
  • Strong integration and scripting skills, including APIs and webhooks, an iPaaS platform such as Zapier, Make, Workato, or n8n, and Python or JavaScript when appropriate.
  • Fluency with modern SaaS business systems across CRM, billing, HRIS, support, collaboration, and data, and an understanding of how data should flow between them.
  • Hands-on experience building LLM- and agent-powered workflows, with informed judgment about where AI is useful and how to use it safely with appropriate data-handling guardrails.
  • A consultative, cross-functional approach, including the ability to understand business leaders’ problems and translate them into reliable automations.
  • A bias toward measuring impact and documenting work, and the judgment to build durable solutions rather than one-off scripts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building AI agents or LLM-powered workflows that ran reliably in production.
  • RevOps/BizOps automation experience at a SaaS company and familiarity with HubSpot, Stripe, or Rippling.
  • Data and analytics plumbing experience, including SQL, warehouses, and light data engineering.
  • A security-conscious approach to automating workflows involving sensitive business data.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business leaders to understand workflows, identify high-value automation opportunities, and prioritize them by impact.
  • Build cross-functional automations and integrations connecting business systems and reducing manual handoffs and copy-paste work.
  • Design and deliver AI and agentic workflows for tasks such as summarizing, routing, data entry, reconciliation, drafting, and research, with appropriate guardrails.
  • Evaluate, pilot, and roll out AI tools, help teams use them effectively, and establish rules for approved tools, access, and data handling.
  • Make automations reliable and governed by including monitoring, error handling, and security-informed data-handling review.
  • Measure and document the impact of automations, including hours saved and errors removed, and document solutions so they remain maintainable and extensible.
  • Conduct a discovery pass across business lines and publish a prioritized automation backlog with estimated impact.
  • Deliver two or three high-impact automations end to end during the first six months.
  • Publish a usable AI-use guideline and establish standards for building, monitoring, and documenting automations.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Generous paid time off and holiday schedule.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Training and professional growth opportunities.
  • Opportunity to do meaningful work in a dynamic and creative environment with like-minded individuals.
