About The Position

Notion is seeking a Business Systems Engineer to own systems and integrations that support accurate billing and revenue reporting across its go-to-market and finance stack. The role spans CRM, quoting and CPQ, billing, the data warehouse, and related integrations. It combines engineering with business ownership: designing how data and money move between Sales, Finance, Billing Ops, and Data teams; building automation to keep systems in sync; and applying AI to reduce manual work and provide timely signals to users. The position partners closely with Sales, Deal Desk, Billing Ops, Revenue Accounting, and Data Engineering. The role is based in San Francisco or New York City. Employees work from the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, designated as Anchor Days. The successful candidate will establish a reliable foundation across GTM, quote-to-cash, finance, marketing automation, and data systems. Early work includes understanding critical data flows and improving a high-value integration or workflow, as well as developing AI-powered workflows. Over the first year, the role will automate billing-critical workflows and strengthen data integrity, reporting, and operational practices.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in business systems engineering, GTM engineering, revenue operations, or a technical sales or marketing operations role.
  • Ability to own problems end to end and work effectively across functions.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with a data warehouse such as Snowflake or BigQuery.
  • Ability to design clean, traceable data and protect data integrity across systems.
  • Experience building integrations using APIs, webhooks, event-driven services, reverse ETL, or automation platforms such as Zapier, Workato, or Tray.io.
  • Familiarity with finance systems and concepts such as quote-to-cash, billing, invoicing, and revenue recognition.
  • Ability to work effectively with Finance and Billing Ops.
  • Genuine curiosity about AI and experience applying it to day-to-day work through AI-assisted development, agents, or workflow automation.

Nice To Haves

  • Scripting experience in Python or JavaScript, or experience building serverless integrations.
  • Experience with an ERP such as NetSuite.
  • Hands-on Salesforce development experience with Apex, triggers, Lightning Web Components, and Salesforce automation.
  • Experience following software development and release practices, including source control, pull requests, code review, automated testing, and deployment pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce CPQ, Revenue Cloud, or a similar CPQ tool, including product and pricing data models, price books, bundles, and approval rules.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce administration and customization, including objects, flows, permissions, and integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Own and improve systems and integrations across CRM, CPQ, billing, finance systems, marketing automation infrastructure, and the data warehouse.
  • Design how data and money move between Sales, Finance, Billing Ops, and Data teams.
  • Build automation that keeps systems in sync and use AI to reduce manual work and provide timely signals to reps and operators.
  • Understand critical data flows across GTM systems, finance systems, and the data warehouse, and deliver an initial improvement to a high-value integration or workflow.
  • Develop AI-powered and agent-based workflows for reps, Deal Desk, and Billing Ops.
  • Automate billing-critical workflows, including upgrades and prorated refunds, early renewals, true-ups, and credit deferment, with trusted audit trails.
  • Improve data integrity and reporting through data models, deduplication, validation rules, reconciliation, and monitoring.
  • Support accurate ARR, pipeline, dashboard, and forecasting infrastructure.
  • Improve team operating practices for access, change management, releases, documentation, tool decisions, reusable tests, runbooks, code review, and AI-assisted development.
