About The Position

The Business Systems Analyst connects Savage’s business teams with the technology that supports them by owning a portfolio of enterprise and business-dedicated applications, partnering with assigned business functions, and coordinating projects that help teams get more from their systems. This is a business-first role focused on understanding processes, shaping practical solutions, and following through; AI tooling is a standard part of the work. The role offers a path to Senior and Lead Business Systems Analyst roles, as well as project management or functional roles. The position is based in Midvale, Utah, and is in-office Monday through Friday. The technical environment includes Jira, SaaS and in-house applications, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Power Platform, and business-grade AI tools such as Claude, Copilot, or Grok Bot. Travel to Savage field locations may be needed to support implementations, training, and acquisitions.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years in a business, operations, or technology role working across people, processes, and systems.
  • Hands-on experience configuring or administering a business application, including users, roles and access, workflows, or settings; formal administrator or experienced power-user experience is acceptable.
  • Ability to gather requirements and turn business needs into clear, actionable work.
  • Strong business judgment, curiosity, and practical process-improvement skills.
  • Experience coordinating projects and keeping tasks, dependencies, decisions, and follow-ups on track.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, including finding likely root causes and involving the right expertise.
  • Practical use of business-grade AI tooling, such as Claude, Copilot, Grok Bot, or equivalent, to produce work such as requirements, workflow automation, documentation, test scripts, training materials, or analysis.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organization and follow-through, with the ability to balance daily support and multiple projects.
  • Adaptable, service-oriented team player who enjoys learning new systems and business domains.
  • BA/BS degree in business, information systems, supply chain, operations management, or a related field preferred, or equivalent applicable work experience.
  • Business experience and technology aptitude are more important than a traditional IT background; relevant experience may come from operations, supply chain, finance, maintenance and asset management, safety and compliance, project coordination, or application support.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ERP, learning management, maintenance and asset management, or other enterprise SaaS applications.
  • Experience with Jira or another work-management platform.
  • SQL, reporting, analytics, or data-analysis experience.
  • Experience with SharePoint, Microsoft Power Platform, or other workflow-automation tools.
  • Experience with software implementations, system integrations, upgrades, or acquisition integrations.
  • Experience writing test plans, training materials, or user documentation for system rollouts.
  • Experience in logistics, supply chain, energy, agriculture, finance, maintenance, or safety domains.

Responsibilities

  • Own a portfolio of enterprise and business-dedicated applications, administering some and supporting the subject matter experts and power users who administer others.
  • Manage configuration, access and roles, workflows, documentation, and vendor relationships for assigned systems.
  • Build relationships with business leaders, subject matter experts, frontline users, vendors, and technical teams, serving as the main point of contact for assigned business functions.
  • Understand the processes, users, and data behind each system and identify opportunities to improve processes, data quality, user adoption, and system effectiveness.
  • Translate business needs into clear requirements, options, and tradeoffs; develop recommendations and work with business and technology leadership to reach decisions.
  • Coordinate implementations, upgrades, integrations, acquisitions, and process improvements from requirements and planning through testing, training, rollout, and post-go-live support.
  • Coordinate work with business leaders, project managers, vendors, and specialists; clarify responsibilities, track work and decisions in Jira, and surface risks early.
  • Handle requests, incidents, and enhancement ideas by troubleshooting issues, identifying likely root causes, and involving additional expertise when needed.
  • Use AI tooling as a standard part of the workflow.
