About The Position

At Regions, the Business Systems Analyst conducts business process analysis, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefits analysis in an effort to align information technology solutions with business initiatives. This position may function as liaison between the line of business and the Information Technology (IT) department.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED and seven (7) years of related experience
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related experience
Highly analytical SQL Data Analyst with expertise in querying, analyzing, and comparing large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and business insights.
Possess advanced SQL skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and experience working with high-volume data from multiple sources to support data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

Formulates/defines specifications for operating software programming applications or modifies/maintains complex existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from programs
Analyzes and evaluates existing or proposed systems and devises computer programs, systems, and related procedures to process data
Prepares charts and diagrams to assist in problem analysis and submits recommendations for solution
Prepares program specifications and diagrams and develops coding logic flowcharts
Encodes, tests, debugs, and installs the operating programs and procedures in coordination with computer operations and user departments
Reviews progress and evaluates results
Reports inconsistencies to the attention of management and suggest problem resolutions and business process improvements
Certain business groups may require on call support rotation after hours and/or weekends
Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data extraction processes.
Analyze and compare large datasets across multiple systems to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
Perform data validation, reconciliation, and root cause analysis to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Create reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses to support business and operational decisions.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into analytical solutions.
Identify data quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
Utilize data profiling techniques to discover patterns, outliers, and process improvements.
Support data migration, integration, and transformation projects.
Document analytical methodologies, business rules, and data definitions.
