Requirements

  • Business Systems Analyst: 3-5 years of experience.
  • Senior Business Systems Analyst: 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience gathering and documenting business and functional requirements.
  • Strong and analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and perform work reliably, accurately and thoroughly.
  • Flexibility to support project timelines when needed.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office Suite required.
  • Ability to work on a team and independently.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours to meet project deadlines.
  • Knowledge of all phases of software development including requirements analysis, design, testing (integration, user, and performance), debugging, implementation and support.
  • Experience using enterprise-wide requirements definition and management systems and methodologies.
  • Ability to apply general organizational knowledge of business and systems processes in problem analysis.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with Agile delivery methods.
  • Proven ability to lead projects or major workstreams.
  • Strong understanding of systems integration and business processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity and deliver results.
  • Experience with business analysis tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Visio).
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of system integration concepts and APIs.
  • Life insurance or financial services industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit, analyze, document, and validate business requirements for system enhancements and new solutions.
  • Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure alignment on objectives.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications, user stories, and process flows.
  • Collaborate with developers, QA teams, and project stakeholders to design, test, and implement solutions.
  • Support system testing efforts including test planning, test case creation, and defect tracking.
  • Analyze existing systems and processes to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Assist with data analysis, reporting, and system configuration to support business needs.
  • Provide support during system implementation, including user training and post-deployment issue resolution.
  • Participate in project planning, timelines, and status reporting.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of cybersecurity risks and incorporate security considerations into system requirements, supporting a secure-by-design approach.
  • Lead requirements gathering sessions and stakeholder meetings.
  • Define requirements by identifying project milestones, phases, dependencies, and constraints, and orchestrate requirement validation, approval, communication, and distribution across business and technical teams.
  • Assess how proposed changes affect business operations, processes, and systems; recommend mitigation strategies and implementation approaches as needed.
  • Mentor junior analysts and provide guidance on best practices.
  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of cybersecurity risks and incorporates security considerations into system requirements by supporting the Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and promoting a “security by design” approach.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives and recommend strategic solutions.
  • Lead end-to-end user training strategies, documentation, and change management activities related to system implementations.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for assigned systems and business domains.
  • Facilitate communication across departments to resolve complex issues.
