About The Position

Grant PUD is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to support the analysis, design, implementation, and ongoing support of enterprise technology solutions. This position partners with business and technology teams to understand business needs, improve business processes, and deliver technology solutions that align with organizational goals. Depending on qualifications and experience, the position may be filled at the Business Systems Analyst I, II, or III level, with increasing levels of independence, technical expertise, and leadership responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree OR two (2) additional years' experience in lieu of degree.
  • One (1) year of experience in analytical, data management, reporting, contract administration, compliance, financial tracking, or other directly related business experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, or other related technical degree, or two (2) additional years of relevant analysis experience in lieu of degree.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a computer technology team in business systems analyst, data analyst, user application support, test, or development role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or other related technical degree, or two (2) additional years of relevant analysis experience in lieu of degree.
  • Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in a computer technology environment as a business systems analyst, systems analyst, data analyst, user application support, software test, or development role.
  • Effective communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of business systems analysis, business process improvement, and software development concepts, including the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Ability to analyze business needs, evaluate alternatives, and develop technology solution recommendations.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple assignments and projects while building effective working relationships with users, project teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, customer service, and learning new technologies.

  • Experience using technology tools such as; Team Foundation Server/Azure DevOps or , Git, and or Other Version Control, and Technology Work or ticket Management Systems such as BMC Remedy, Manage Engine, or Zendesk, reporting tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or Power BI and visualization tools such as Visio or BalsamIQ.
  • Experience reading or working with Programming or Scripting languages such as C#, Python, PowerShell.
  • Experience working with Web Services, APIs, API Framework, and SOA.
  • Experience working in application architecture, networks, security, and enterprise databases.
  • Professional Project Management Certification such as CAP-M, PMP, or CompTIA Project+.

  • Develops or supports test plans, test scenarios, and acceptance criteria; coordinators testing activities and leads user acceptance testing for assigned system changes during implementation and release cycles.
  • Supports multiple projects and initiatives concurrently while meeting assigned deadlines and deliverables.
  • Participates in technology reviews for solution options, identify risks, and recommend improvements to technology capabilities and business processes.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements improvement opportunities within assigned systems, processes, and work practices.
  • Partners with business users to understand business needs, requirements, and capability gaps, then strategizes and implements solutions to increase work efficiency and capabilities.
  • Responsible for staying abreast of new technology, methodologies, and the software roadmaps for supported systems.
  • Provides technical guidance and subject matter expertise on the supported systems portfolio and articulates system capabilities, dependencies, and constraints.
  • Works closely with the Software Engineering and Technology Operations teams to design, develop, and maintain user interfaces, templates, data models, business intelligence capabilities and data transformations as required by changing business needs and processes.
  • Determines operational objectives by studying business functions and gathering requirements from multiple stakeholders to translate business requirements into software requirements
  • Coordinates with business and technology teams to accomplish successful delivery of Technology projects
  • Analyzes requirements, construct workflow charts and diagrams, study system capabilities, and write specifications based on project functional and non-functional requirements
  • Analyzes current business processes and make recommendations for improvement based on industry trends and professional business knowledge
  • Contribute and actively collaborate with the technology team(s) and business team(s) to ensure project goals are accomplished
  • Participates in project teams by leading assigned business analysis activities including, business process modeling, requirements gathering, and various other quality assurance and control tasks.
  • Plans, coordinates, and facilitates system, integration, and user acceptance testing activities during implementation and release cycles. May support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Recommends and implements changes to business processes to utilize new system capabilities and features.
  • Participates in technology reviews with team members and contributes feedback to improve solution quality and system performance.
  • Leads or serves as a project manager on small to medium technology projects.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and implements continuous improvement opportunities within assigned systems and functional areas.
  • Develops and maintains business, functional, and technical documentation required to support solution implementation, operational support, and knowledge transfer.
  • Maintains expertise in supported technologies by staying abreast of new technology, industry best practices, methodologies, and software roadmaps for supported systems.
  • Provides technical leadership, guidance, and subject matter expertise for supported systems portfolio advising business and technical teams on system capabilities, dependencies, constraints, and implementation approaches.
  • Serves as the technical expert in the capabilities of supported applications and understands how solutions are implemented, integrated, and deployed within the environment.
  • Leads cross-functional collaboration between business and technology teams to accomplish successful delivery of IT projects.
  • Design new software/system solutions by studying system capabilities, analyzing requirements, constructing workflow charts, wireframes, diagrams, and writing specifications based on project functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Analyzes complex business processes and provides recommendations for improvement based on industry trends and professional business knowledge.
  • Leads BSA I - II work in project teams, including business process modeling, requirements, gathering, and other quality assurance and control tasks.
  • Leads planning, coordination, and facilitation of system, integration, and user acceptance testing during implementation and release cycles. May support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Leads root cause analysis on reported or discovered problems and analyzes systems to identify capability gaps, efficiency improvements and growth strategies. Recommends and implements changes to business processes to utilize new system capabilities and features.
  • Leads or facilitates technology reviews with team members to ensure technology solutions align with business objectives and technology standards.
  • Coordinates with software vendors, systems integrators, and support teams, and serves as the primary liaison between business users and vendors support.
  • Identifies and implements improvement opportunities for their job function. Engages in larger department transformation initiatives to improve quality and professionalism of work.
  • Provides technical leadership and guidance to Business Systems Analyst I-II through mentoring, reviewing complex work products, sharing best practices, and promoting consistent solution design and delivery approaches.
  • Partners with vendors and Grant PUD technical resources to troubleshoot complex issues which may include reviewing code, unit testing, writing ad-hoc queries for data analysis, and engaging with business stakeholders and SMEs to validate fixes.
  • Leads small to medium technology projects and supports Enterprise Technology Project Managers to ensure successful planning and implementation of larger technology projects.
