About The Position

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) is seeking a Business Systems Analyst, Payroll Systems to join their People and Finance Systems team. This role will focus on leveraging technology, specifically the Workday platform, to automate manual processes, optimize workflows, and provide first-class support for Payroll, Planning, and Absence management. The analyst will work closely with Payroll, Finance, and Total Rewards teams to gather and document business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, ensure compliance, and implement solutions. The goal is to enable scale and execution of business strategies and initiatives through technological solutions. The Operations team at CZI is crucial in supporting Biohub's work in AI and biology to solve diseases, and Learning Commons' mission to build AI infrastructure for education. Operations encompasses Central Tech, Finance, Marketing & Communications, People, and Real Estate/Workplace/Events/Facilities/Security (REWFS) teams, all working together to create systems, programs, and experiences that empower CZI's partners and colleagues. This role, reporting to the Finance Systems Lead, is integral to streamlining and optimizing critical business processes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Payroll applications design and implementation experience in a rapidly scaling organization.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in Workday configuration, business process customization, report writing, and integrations using Workday tools.
  • Best practice knowledge of Payroll and Absence Management processes.
  • Ability to distill and simplify complex business requests into clear and actionable projects.
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and persevere through project road bumps.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish strong partnerships with business stakeholders and technology teams.
  • Organized, methodical, and detail-oriented, with a passion for data analysis and problem-solving.
  • Leveraging organizational awareness to empower others to accomplish project objectives.
  • Comfortable taking on additional job responsibilities as needed.
  • Demonstrated willingness to get involved in the details to achieve the team's end goals.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies.
  • Security and compliance awareness for enterprise data management.

Nice To Haves

  • Workday certification(s) are preferred.
  • Consulting experience is preferred.
  • Workday Adaptive Planning integration experience - data loader, publishing plans is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze business requirements from Payroll, Finance, and Total Rewards teams.
  • Document and prioritize business requirements, creating user stories and use cases.
  • Design solutions by translating business requirements into technical specifications, considering Workday configuration and potential customizations.
  • Implement solutions by working with the IT team for development, testing, and deployment, and coordinating testing with business teams.
  • Manage demand and projects, including prioritization, project planning, and progress communication.
  • Collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, explaining system capabilities and translating requirements.
  • Stay updated with Workday ecosystem technology trends and recommend system enhancements.
