About The Position

Works under general supervision of a manager and is responsible for the review, analysis and evaluation of processes, systems and user needs of projects associated with the Criminal Court Clerk’s Office as well as for working collaboratively with other internal and external partners. This position is subject to a background check for any convictions that have a substantial relationship to potential job duties. Only convictions that are substantially related to potential job duties will be considered and will not automatically disqualify the candidate. All employees hired after September 1, 1986, must be residents of Shelby County and shall continue to reside in the County as a condition of their employment. The residency requirement shall not apply to certain public safety/civil service employees.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of experience in business services, system procedures analysis, information systems support or closely related field with two (2) of those years must be application development or a closely related field
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information systems, operations management, engineering, business administration or related field.
  • Working knowledge of Software implementation and development techniques.
  • Working knowledge of the following software packages: Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of the following tools: Microsoft Report Builder 3.0, Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Ability to work with and communicate complex technical concepts to users both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated skills in data mining as well as the development of database queries.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting, analyzing, and resolving development tool anomalies.
  • Analytical skills to initiate development of clear and concise specifications, documentation, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of office automation, Information Technology techniques and practices, forms and record management.
  • Ability to coordinate and complete multiple projects in a deadline-oriented work environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Odyssey, Clerk Edition, and Courtroom is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a part of a team that implements tools to maintain data integrity in Odyssey system within the Criminal Court Clerk’s office.
  • Serves as the first point of contact for coworkers regarding the use of designated systems and problem solving.
  • Confers with users and reviews requests for services to identify system needs and support and participates in user acceptance testing in activities on projects.
  • Monitors Odyssey Clerk Edition under the supervision of Manager of Information Systems to decrease variance in data entry.
  • Provides support for Odyssey, functioning as an expert on anything Odyssey related, including, but not limited to courtroom, grand jury, customer service and case financials.
  • Uses MS Report Builder to create ECR reports in Odyssey to ensure that business requirements and functional specifications are implemented properly in a manner consistent with Shelby County standards and guidelines.
  • Works with users to define problems and devises logical procedures to solve problems within the capacity and limitations of equipment, operating time, and form of desired results.
  • Evaluates the hardware and software vendor and third-party hardware and software making recommendations for upgrading to maintain efficient operations.
  • Works with Shelby County IT application analysts and programmers as needed.
  • Analyzes and resolves problems quickly and efficiently as they relate to business services.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining documentation and training materials.
  • Performs other related duties as required or directed.
  • Must be available for on-call work, as required.
  • Employee will need to master Report Builder as well as programming in Clerk’s Edition to complete the probationary period.
