About The Position

Shorebird is seeking a Business Operations professional to manage and systematize various operational aspects of the company. This role is crucial for scaling the business and freeing up the CEO and product teams to focus on customers and product development. The position involves owning areas such as finance, contracts, compliance, company rhythm, and people operations. The ideal candidate will be a proactive doer who can operate with minimal structure, manage a diverse workload, and grow the role as the company expands. This is an opportunity to learn the inner workings of a growing startup and take significant ownership.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of working experience (not straight out of college).
  • Ability to operate well with little structure.
  • Ability to own a long list of tasks and ensure they are completed.
  • Experience using agents for non-trivial work and a desire to do so more.
  • Clear written communication skills.
  • Comfort with numbers.
  • A specific reason for wanting to work at Shorebird.

Responsibilities

  • Own monthly close with accountants and review financial numbers.
  • Manage company credit card budgets, taxes, and insurance.
  • Manage all vendor relationships, including tooling, recruiters, leases, and insurance.
  • Ensure vendors are paid on time and manage vendor accounts.
  • Oversee the ISO 27001 audit and manage the vendor relationship for the program.
  • Own the weekly cross-functionals, all-hands meetings, metrics reviews, and quarterly offsites.
  • Manage vendor renewals and compliance dates.
  • Plan and execute quarterly offsites, including venue, travel, agenda, and budget.
  • Own onboarding and offboarding processes, including accounts, equipment, access, and paperwork.
  • Manage payroll and benefits administration.
  • Assist in building and running the hiring system.
  • Manage office lease negotiations and operations if the company expands locally.
