About The Position

Supports and instructs those served by the department with routine to intermediate queries, applies fundamental knowledge of multiple standards, policies and procedures, and maintains accurate and detailed records. This position supports two summer programs: the Joaquin Bustoz Math-Science Honors Program (JBMSHP) and the Quantitative Research in the Life and Social Sciences Program (QRLSSP), including year-round activities for both programs and other endeavors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Strong knowledge of basic principles, practices and methods of accounting practices.
  • Strong knowledge of PC based software for MS Excel, Word, email, and Adobe.
  • Skill in coordinating activities and establishing priorities.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Skill in effective communication, both verbal and written.

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, strong organization and time management skills.
  • Good working knowledge of (and experience in) general accounting procedures.
  • Experience in post-award procedures in higher education.
  • Experience with federal and state regulations.
  • Knowledge of ERA, Concur and Workday systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Adobe Acrobat, and Google Forms/Sheets.
  • Workday experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Account management via the Workday financial management system, including: expense approvals, processing and transfers; account reporting, monitoring and reconciling.
  • Management of the school’s purchasing card approvals, expenses, allocations, and reconciliation.
  • Travel processing in the Concur travel system, including approvals and request submissions, expense reports, and travel expense tracking.
  • Assists in the post-award management, accounting, tracking, expense and travel processing, and reconciliation of the school’s sponsored funding.
  • Acts as resource to staff and faculty on policies and regulations regarding the administration of funds, monitoring compliance with budgets and restrictions, and assists in resolution.
  • Maintains all applicable accounting records and files.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.
