About The Position

The New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, Dean’s Office at ASU West Valley Campus is seeking a highly motivated, professional, and customer service-oriented Business Operations Manager (BOM). In this role, the BOM will be responsible for a wide range of duties which include, but are not limited to, budgeting, account reconciliations, undergraduate and graduate program fees management, financial process improvement, grant accounts and transactions, post award training, payroll functions, faculty summer pay, travel, purchasing card management, and acting as a resource for New College staff and faculty. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with an efficient work methodology, excellent customer service and communications skills, exceptional work qualities, an ability to coordinate multiple tasks autonomously and someone who can exercise sound judgement in decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field including two (2) years managerial experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices and methods of accounting and budgeting
  • Experience using financial management system
  • Experience preparing, managing, and forecasting multiple budgets
  • Experience reconciling accounts
  • Experience with travel reimbursement
  • Experience with managing grant post award financial activities
  • Experience with hiring in the WorkDay system
  • Demonstrated knowledge of university policies and procedures
  • Evidence of customer service skills
  • Experience in creating detailed and complex computations and spreadsheets in Excel
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Evidence of effective communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Manages the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences budget and other similar tasks for assigned accounts
  • Administers operation and personal services budget, expenditures and revenues
  • Reviews and approves purchasing requests, travel requests and expense reimbursements
  • Prepares financial and administrative reports; analyzes and interprets statistical, financial and management planning data for decision-making and strategic planning
  • Keeps informed of, interprets and applies pertinent rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Develops recommendations for implementation of procedures for daily operations
  • Maintains knowledge of ASU practices and policies in order to provide guidance to faculty and staff and successful execution of all assigned fiscal responsibilities
  • Manages grant post-award financial activities
  • Manages undergraduate and graduate program fees
  • Routinely meets with Directors and/or leadership to review budgets, accounts, provide guidance and assist in navigating complex requests
  • Creates spreadsheets, documents, and reports from various data sources
  • Completes other duties or projects as assigned
