Business Operations Manager

NeuroBionicsSomerville, MA
Onsite

About The Position

NeuroBionics is hiring a Business Operations Manager to be the operational backbone of their growing team. As the first dedicated operations hire, this role will own the operational core, including HR, payroll, benefits, onboarding, procurement, accounts payable, and vendor relationships. The position will also support lab facilities and safety, and assist in planning future space needs. The Business Operations Manager will coordinate with existing support functions such as a bookkeeper, fractional CFO, HR advisor, and IT support, acting as the internal hub to streamline operations. As the team expands, this role will build the systems and rhythm necessary for efficient operation, freeing up founders to focus on strategy, fundraising, and scientific advancements. This is a hands-on, generalist role for an individual who enjoys broad company involvement, operates with autonomy, and thrives in building order within a fast-paced environment. The position is on-site in Somerville, MA, with relocation assistance available.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of operations experience, ideally in a startup or small-company environment.
  • Hands-on experience with the operational core: payroll and HR administration, and/or finance operations (AP, procurement, transaction coding, vendor management).

  • Lab or facilities operations and capital-equipment procurement.
  • Has managed external partners or consultants.
  • Has helped a founder hand off finance and operations and built the trust to make that work.
  • HR / People-ops background (can work with our HR consultant and run HR, payroll, and benefits).

  • Draft and implement HR policies (with support from HR advisor).

  • Improve systems and workflows over time.
  • Operate independently within a defined scope.
  • Resolve issues at your level.
  • Keep the team and founders focused by absorbing operational complexity.
