About The Position

This position will provide support of the Industry Group (IG) and Practice Group (PG) Business Operations teams, and will oversee certain processes that are critical firm priorities. The position works under the direction of the Managing Director and Industry Business Lead for Life Sciences and works closely with partners, leaders, and administrative team members across Industry Groups and Practice Groups to ensure timely and effective execution on processes and systems that support the strategic direction of the Business Operations function firmwide. This role will require a versatile, self-directed team player, a well-rounded, skilled operator who is facile with technology and has excellent organizational and communication skills. This role will work closely with diverse groups that may evolve over time and who can serve as a facilitator across the Business Operations teams. An interest and ability to thrive and perform at a high level in a dynamic environment with multiple constituencies is needed to succeed in this role.

Requirements

5 to 7 years' experience in Business Operations/Practice Management in a large law firm.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Well-rounded and versatile — a skilled, adaptable operator able to work effectively as a facilitator across multiple Business Operations teams.
Facile with technology, with the ability to learn and adopt new tools and systems quickly.
Develop and foster positive, collaborative working relationships.
Exercise sound judgment while respecting, protecting, and maintaining highly confidential and sensitive information.
Manage projects and tasks effectively, applying strong delegation and organizational skills.
Apply creative problem-solving and effective people-management skills.
Working knowledge of Word, Outlook and Excel. Ability to learn and utilize additional programs.

J.D. and experience as an attorney, in a large law firm preferred.

Responsibilities

Work with the Managing Director and Industry Business Lead, IG leaders, PG leaders, and Business Operations teams to manage operational and strategic aspects of the business, including internal organization, meetings, information and data management, executing on deliverables in connection with firm processes, and other initiatives as requested.
Identify IG and PG needs and opportunities, and work to advance relevant initiatives, providing general coverage across groups as needed.
Support the functional management of the Business Operations team, including expense budget tracking and oversight of the budgeting process for the Business Operations function.
Assist with Business Practice optimization efforts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Business Operations processes firmwide.
Support processes that cut across Industry Groups and Practice Groups, including oversight of and compliance with Partner Delinquent Time policies, and maintaining a calendar of general firm reminders to Partners.
Take on other cross-functional projects and priorities as needed from time to time.
Provide general operational support across Industry Groups, Practice Groups, and Practice Areas. Groups that this role supports may change from time to time based on business needs and corporate structure.
