Business Operations Associate, AI & Automation

InstaworkSan Francisco, CA
$90,000 - $130,000Onsite

About The Position

Instawork is seeking a Business Operations Associate to support variable pay and quota-setting within their Go-To-Market (GTM) organization. This role is focused on automating and rebuilding these processes using AI. It offers high ownership and significant autonomy for individuals who can deliver results. While traditional Revenue Operations (RevOps) experience is beneficial, the primary focus is on an individual's ability to transform manual, spreadsheet-driven processes into automated agents and workflows.

Requirements

  • Comfortable using AI tools daily (e.g., Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, n8n, Replit) and eager to improve directing them for work.
  • A builder's instinct to automate manual, repetitive processes.
  • 0-3 years of experience in an analytical, operational, or cross-functional business role (e.g., revenue operations, sales operations, finance, business/product operations). New graduates with strong internship experience are welcome.
  • Willingness to learn SQL sufficiently to draft queries with AI assistance and validate output against source data.
  • Strong Excel/Sheets skills and comfort with ambiguous, spreadsheet-heavy problems.
  • High attention to detail, as the role impacts compensation.
  • Clear, professional communication skills for coordinating with sales leaders, Finance, and Legal.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or project experience with SQL, dbt, or BI tools (Mode, Looker, Tableau).
  • Exposure to Salesforce or another CRM.
  • A personal project, class project, or internship where a script, automation, or tool was built to save time.
  • Interest in sales compensation, forecasting, or GTM strategy as a career path.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the RevOps team to convert manual, spreadsheet-heavy compensation process steps into automated agents, scripts, and workflows.
  • Develop initial projects such as a checklist agent for payout file mismatches, a Replit tool for answering basic crediting questions, or an n8n workflow for approval reminders.
  • Support monthly and quarterly compensation cycles by pulling data, running reconciliation checks, tracking discrepancies, and maintaining documentation.
  • Assist with the quarterly target-setting process, including collecting inputs, formatting packages, tracking approvals, and managing the timeline.
  • Help manage new-hire guarantees, crediting exceptions, and respond to manager compensation questions, developing judgment with guidance from senior partners.
  • Maintain weekly and monthly forecast roll-ups and pipeline dashboards, including coverage, stage conversion, velocity, and aging.
  • Compile data and perform initial analysis for the VP of Sales and CFO before Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), under the direction of the senior RevOps lead.
  • Support the annual compensation planning cycle by conducting research, drafting, formatting, and coordinating review cycles with Legal and leadership.
  • Identify and propose specific, scoped improvements to existing team processes as you gain understanding of the function.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision plans with coverage beginning on the date of hire
  • Flexible paid time off
  • At least 8 paid company holidays annually
  • Phone stipend
  • Commuter stipend
  • Supplemental pay on qualified leaves
  • Employee health savings accounts (HSA) contribution
  • Flexible spending plans
  • 401K plan
