About The Position

Gardner Health Services is seeking a temporary, full-time Business Office Clerk (BOC) for the Optometry department at the Saint James Health Center in San Jose, CA. This role involves performing various clerical tasks such as patient registration, scheduling, answering telephones, verifying medical insurance eligibility, and processing accounts. The BOC will enter registration information into the Practice Management System and collect sensitive and financial information from patients to determine eligibility for health coverage programs. As part of the Patient Medical Home team, the BOC will collaborate with clinic management, nursing, and clinician staff to uphold high standards of patient care. This position is considered an excellent entry point into a large community health services company, with many current employees having started as BOCs and advanced to roles like Medical Assistants and Nurses. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, and the recruitment will remain open until filled. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalency, or equivalent experience.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Demonstrated computer skills.
  • Ability to work as a team player with a diverse population.
  • Must demonstrate courtesy and respect to all clinicians, co-workers, patients and clients interacting at all times in a courteous, helpful, and positive manner.

Responsibilities
