About The Position

Responsible to the Chair, Department of Pediatrics, for the administration, financial and personnel management of the department, outpatient and inpatient clinical operations, and the department's practice plan. Serves as a key liaison with university leadership, healthcare partners, and external agencies while supporting departmental goals, contracts, and research initiatives. Supervises administrative staff and directs the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and long-range planning efforts to ensure efficient and effective departmental performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, and three (3) years of related experience; or
  • Associate's degree (or completion of two years of college coursework) and five (5) years of related experience; or
  • Seven (7) years of related work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Knowledge of health education and health care finance and administration
  • Knowledge of fund and financial accounting principles
  • Knowledge of university and department financial records system
  • Knowledge of state budgeting system; Knowledge of deferral and state regulations and laws pertaining to ambulatory care facilities, clinical laboratories, disposal of hazardous waste, etc.
  • Knowledge of medical and tort law, liability and medical insurance
  • Knowledge of health care services planning, budgeting, financial management and forecasting
  • Knowledge of managed care and other third-party providers
  • Knowledge of grant application procedures; Knowledge of medical accreditation requirements, processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of personnel laws and institutional regulations
  • Knowledge of computer systems, data analysis, spreadsheets, financial statements, and auditing techniques
  • Knowledge of management theory, accounting principles and financial concepts
  • Knowledge of emerging trends in health care administration and services
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a business related field or health administrative field
  • Three (3) years experience in an academic administrative setting
  • Experience in managing a medical practice
