About The Position

The University of Wyoming Extension (UWE) seeks to hire a Business Manager responsible for financial, human resources, and other administrative duties. This role serves the state Extension office, reporting to the Associate Dean and Director of Extension, and collaborates with various internal departments and personnel. The University of Wyoming Extension has a long history of serving communities across Wyoming, the Wind River Indian Reservation, and F.E. Warren Air Force Base by applying university research to practical problems through diverse educational programming. The ideal candidate will support the University's land-grant mission and promote individual and community well-being.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years work-related experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant business management policies and best practices.
  • Strong communication skills both in-person and electronic.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial, human resource, and administrative management.
  • Advanced computer skills, including a wide range of business, financial, and document management applications.

Responsibilities

  • Track salaries/fringe and manage cooperative salary contributions for counties and UWE.
  • Manage annual compensation agreements, liaising with UW General Counsel as needed.
  • Manage quarterly invoices and deposits for county billing.
  • Prorate salary billings for termed or new employees and track revenue.
  • Receive payments for UWE publications and manage deposits and reports.
  • Draft budgets for UWE, compile 4-H and Communication & Technology budgets.
  • Prepare position planning, attend budget meetings, make budgetary recommendations, and track foundation accounts.
  • Support UWE accountant and help manage expenditures.
  • Process invoices, manage accounts receivable, make purchases using the University Purchasing Card (P-Card), and reconcile personal transactions.
  • Create requisitions and manage applications and interview schedules.
  • Handle candidate interactions, arrange travel and lodging, and act as search committee liaison.
  • Serve as the UWE Decentralized Human Resource Representative (DHR), processing HR and payroll actions in conjunction with the College Business Office.
  • Provide strategic support and guidance to the Director, Associate Directors, and other key personnel.
  • Keep MOUs up to date for 23 counties and the Wind River Indian Reservation, and work with UW General Counsel on county-specific details.
  • Assist with entering and tracking contracts as needed.
  • Assist with preparing agendas, rooms, and taking minutes/notes for all meetings; serve on committees as assigned.
  • Assist with event planning including facilities, contracts, and agendas as needed.
  • Supervise student workers, UWE accountant, and others as assigned.
  • Assist with organizing travel including flights, lodging, and transportation as needed with Office Associate.
  • Support the Capacity Building Team in planning the annual ESCAPE conference for county clerical personnel.
  • Engage in professional development to stay current on updating University, State, or Federal Policies in relevant topics.
