About The Position

The Business Manager administers the business affairs of the District to provide the best possible educational services with the financial resources available. This role supervises the management of financial activities, accounting policies, and support staff managers for departments including food service and the business office (accounts payable, payroll, purchasing, student activities, and accounting/finance). The Business Manager is responsible for creating District fund budgets, allocating funds, and ensuring budgets are not overspent while adhering to all applicable laws. This position also coordinates District elections, manages the District’s liability insurance program, assists with other employee insurance benefits, represents the Superintendent in the Meet and Confer process, and manages building expansion and renovation programs. Additionally, the Business Manager pursues favorable legislation at the State and Federal levels and performs other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • B.B.A. or B.S. Business Degree.
  • Must possess at least two years of administrative experience in a public school business office.
  • Must possess knowledge of the management of building construction projects.
  • Must possess knowledge of budgeting and finance laws at the state and federal levels.
  • Must have proven successful employment record.
  • Subject to a background investigation to determine suitability for employment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the management of the financial activities of the District according to state laws and regulations and ensures that all financial reports are filed in a timely manner and in an acceptable format.
  • Supervises the management of the accounting policies, procedures and activities of the District according to state laws, regulations and attorney general opinions.
  • Supervises the support staff managers of the food service department.
  • Supervises the business office staff in accounts payable, payroll, purchasing, student activities and accounting/finance.
  • Creates District fund budgets in accordance with state and federal funding laws and allocates funds to budget categories.
  • Supervises the management of all District budgets to ensure that specific funds are not overspent and that all applicable laws are followed for legality of specific expenditures.
  • Coordinates all District elections for building construction, overrides and bond building projects.
  • Manages the District’s liability insurance program and assists the Personnel Technician with other employee insurance carrier and program benefits.
  • Represents the Superintendent with the Meet and Confer process.
  • Manages the District’s building expansion and renovation programs as prioritized by District Committees and approved by the District’s Governing Board.
  • Pursues the development and passage of legislation at the State and Federal levels that are favorable to the District.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
