About The Position

As a Business Analysis Manager at Capital One, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges in a collaborative environment. The Global External Affairs division, which includes Community Finance (CF), aims to create socioeconomic opportunity through advocating for an inclusive society, building thriving communities, and developing financial tools. The CF team is a leading provider of affordable housing financing, having provided over $17 billion in debt and equity financing for affordable housing, resulting in over 160,000 affordable housing units. The team is focused on innovation and strategic approaches to its core work, advocacy, and next-generation analytical capabilities to deepen its impact. The Strategy & Impact (S&I) team within Community Finance drives analysis and strategic thinking for key initiatives, including problem framing, current state assessment, target state design, recommendation development, and implementation support. The Manager, Business Analysis role within the S&I team involves conducting analyses to identify, evaluate, and synthesize strategic opportunities for Community Finance, focusing on market insights, impact assessments, and innovation evaluation to drive actionable CF strategy. This role contributes to Capital One's mission of changing banking for good by guiding the CF team towards building inclusive, thriving, resident-centered communities.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional experience performing analysis
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date: A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer engineering, Software engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field)
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date: A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentration

  • Master’s Degree in Business or quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Physical Sciences, Math, Statistics, Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis to identify, evaluate, and synthesize strategic opportunities for Community Finance.
  • Perform market insights analysis, including industry trends, macroeconomic trends, competitive landscaping, and resident & community needs.
  • Conduct impact assessments of Community Finance’s work.
  • Evaluate innovations and strategic opportunities for Community Finance.
  • Synthesize insights to drive an actionable Community Finance strategy.
  • Apply strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges.
  • Develop and test strategies that impact the bottom line.
  • Frame and analyze complex problems.
  • Assess current state and design target state solutions.
  • Develop actionable recommendations and support initial implementation.
  • Generate ideas, insights, and strategic plans to guide decision-making on key initiatives and new products.
  • Develop an end-to-end understanding of existing and potential CF products and offerings and their fit within the larger ecosystem.
  • Anticipate impacts from internal and external changes to CF and Capital One.
  • Work closely with team members across CF, EA, and the Enterprise to understand decision tradeoffs and their impact.
  • Synthesize insights into actionable strategies to define priorities and drive success for CF and Capital One.
  • Build compelling stories and drive alignment around insights and recommendations.
  • Effectively execute an agenda in a fluid environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Capital One for input on insights and to drive alignment in approaches.
