About The Position

As the Longhorn Business Leader, you are the architect of performance for one of Whistler’s most iconic venues. You are responsible for building a high-performing, self-sustaining business that delivers exceptional guest experiences, strong financial results, and a culture rooted in The Gibbons Way. This role is about ownership. You don’t just run the venue—you build the machine behind it. You develop leaders, optimize systems, and ensure the business performs at a high level whether you’re in the room or not. You lead with discipline, think long-term, and operate with calm authority. You are as comfortable in the numbers as you are on the floor, and you take pride in building something that lasts.

Requirements

  • Proven High-Volume Leadership: Experience managing large teams in high-volume venues, with a track record of delivering strong operational performance and leading through peak periods and large-scale events
  • Revenue Driver: Demonstrated success driving revenue in hospitality environments, including experience leading high-performing nights
  • Financial & Commercial Acumen: Confident owning a P&L, understanding key revenue and margin drivers, and making smart, data-informed decisions
  • Creative + Analytical Thinker: Able to balance creativity (programming, guest experience, partnerships) with strong analytical thinking to continuously improve performance
  • Strong, Accountable Leader: Builds and leads high-performing teams, sets clear expectations, and creates a culture of ownership, accountability, and results

Responsibilities

  • Ensure strong leadership coverage (AGM, Entertainment Manager, Captains), drive performance through regular one-on-ones, OPPs, and quarterly reviews, and build a high-accountability, high-recognition culture
  • Deliver excellence in daily process execution, lead weekly scorecard and Business Performance Reviews, and own monthly P&L reviews and quarterly planning cycles
  • Oversee the full guest journey—from pre-arrival communication to post-visit follow-up—ensuring every touchpoint reflects The Gibbons Way and drives repeat business
  • Own revenue, labour, and profit targets; optimize pricing and offerings; and maintain disciplined cost and inventory management
  • Execute 7-day and 52-week programming strategies, ensure leadership presence across key nights, and actively build community and in-resort relationships
  • Maintain strong systems, scheduling discipline, and inventory controls while continuously identifying opportunities to improve how the business operates
