Business Law and Paralegal Studies Adjunct Faculty (Part-Time)
About The Position
Virginia Western Community College is seeking part-time Business Law and Paralegal Adjunct Faculty for the School of Business, Technology, and Trades (BTT). The college is a two-year public institution located in Roanoke, VA, serving a region that includes Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. The college was established in 1966 and currently serves over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400 in workforce and continuing education courses. This position has an immediate need to teach Criminal Law in the evenings starting Fall 2023. Future needs may include teaching Legal Writing and Research, Bankruptcy, Family Law, Real Estate Law, Estate Planning, Legal Transactions, Torts, and Trial Preparation. Adjunct faculty are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed and are expected to stay current in their teaching disciplines and in community college education trends. Active participation in departmental communication is also expected. Applications will be reviewed on a continuous basis, with review beginning immediately and continuing until positions are filled.
Requirements
- Expertise in Business Law and Paralegal Studies.
- Ability to teach Criminal Law.
- Willingness to teach in the evenings.
- Ability to maintain currency in teaching disciplines and community college education trends.
- Ability to participate in departmental communication.
