The Department of Children and Families (DCF) relies on core, mission-critical applications like CTKIND and IV-E, Connecticut’s Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS). These applications are used by over 2,000 social workers and case managers and have been continuously enhanced to meet data capture and process functionality requirements driven by child welfare practices, as well as State and Federal legislation. CTKIND is regularly updated to align with the agency's goal of improving the safety, permanency, and well-being of children in care. DCF has invested significantly in ensuring efficient, economic, and effective tools for its Child Welfare Staff, Providers, and the children and families of Connecticut. The Department of Administrative Services - Bureau of Information Technology Solutions (DAS-BITS) provides technology expertise, services, and an information systems infrastructure for DCF and its approximately 3,300 employees, aiming for continuous improvement in cost-effective and high-quality technological services.
