About The Position

Under general supervision of the Business Intelligence Manager, the Business Intelligence Intern primarily supports the planning and coordination of events involving Port staff and employee participation and performs general administrative tasks. The intern also supports research, data collection, database development, analytics, and the preparation of documents communicating program activities and analyzing department- or development-related subjects. The role is performed in a general office environment, with occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions.

Requirements

Be attending an accredited college or university and majoring in Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Maritime Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Demonstrate written and oral proficiency in English.
Have strong writing, editing, and graphic communication skills.
Have organizational and time-management skills.
Be able to operate a personal computer, a variety of programs, office equipment, and the internet.
Be able to deal effectively with the public and varying levels of management.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

Support planning and coordination of events involving Port staff and employee participation.
Perform general administrative tasks.
Research special projects, including market intelligence, research, and data analytics.
Prepare correspondence, detailed analytical documents, staff reports, and technical documents to communicate program activities and analyze, describe, and present department- or development-related subjects.
Assist with data collection and database establishment while complying with data governance standards.
Document methodologies, assumptions, and sources for completed projects.
Prepare information from a variety of data sources to assess issues and trends.
Adhere to Port policy and maintain good employee relations.
Complete assigned tasks and work required hours and shifts to fulfill Port objectives.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
