About The Position

The Business Intelligence Intern will develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports, transform and clean data, create measures for KPIs and metrics, and support reporting and analysis. The intern will partner with business stakeholders, validate data accuracy, and document dashboards, metrics, and data definitions. The role offers frequent interaction across organizational functions and meaningful work intended to prepare the intern for a career. The internship starts part-time in winter and moves to full-time in summer 2027. HSB’s 11-week undergraduate summer internship program includes hands-on experience, networking, leadership exposure, a team capstone project, community outreach, and career guidance. The schedule is hybrid, with work both in the office and from home. Summer housing options are available at the University of Hartford.

Requirements

• Major in Business Administration, Computer Science/MIS, Accounting and Finance, or Data Analytics.
• Skilled in Microsoft Excel.
• Competency with Microsoft platforms.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong collaboration mindset and ability to communicate effectively.
• Effective leadership skills to drive projects and tasks to completion.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Transform and clean data using Power Query.
• Write basic to intermediate DAX measures for KPIs and metrics.
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs.
• Validate data accuracy and ensure consistency across reports.
• Document dashboards, metrics, and data definitions.
• Support ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests.
