Business Intelligence Analyst

Blackline Safety

About The Position

The Business Intelligence Analyst plays a key role in expanding data-driven decision-making across Blackline through advanced analytics, reporting, and visualization. We're looking for a curious, driven Business Intelligence Analyst to join our BI team; someone who’s not afraid to ask questions and is excited about where BI is heading (AI-assisted analytics, modern data platforms, and beyond). You'll partner and support other Business Intelligence analysts in projects related to Finance, Revenue Operations, Product Management, and other teams to turn data into decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Computing Science, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in Business Intelligence or Analytics.
  • Proven track record designing and delivering BI dashboards and data models for corporate reporting and decision-support.
  • A genuine appetite to learn — you ask "why" and "what if," and you follow up on things you don't understand instead of skipping past them.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to figure things out, with support from a team that will mentor you.
  • Interest in where BI is going, not just where it's been — curiosity about AI/ML applications in analytics (forecasting, anomaly detection, natural-language reporting, etc.) is a big plus, even without hands-on experience yet.
  • A collaborative mindset — you'll be working closely with people outside the BI team and need to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfort receiving feedback and iterating quickly.
  • Advanced SQL and DAX skills for data modeling and complex analytics.
  • Strong proficiency in Power BI, including data shaping (Power Query / M).
  • Experience with modern BI development practices, including version control (GitHub) and CI/CD for report deployment.
  • Familiarity with AWS Redshift, S3, or similar cloud data platforms.
  • Understanding of enterprise data architecture and governance principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Amazon Quick or QuickSight
  • Experience in Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio
  • Experience supporting large Business Intelligence projects, including forecasting, variance analysis, or performance dashboards.
  • Exposure to AI/ML applications in analytics (forecasting, anomaly detection, etc.).
  • Experience with Jira or similar tools for project and task tracking.

Responsibilities

  • Help design, build, and maintain BI dashboards and data models under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Partner with Data Engineering to help keep our financial and operational data accurate, timely, and well-governed.
  • Turn complex datasets into visualizations and reporting that non-technical stakeholders can act on.
  • Contribute to projects that reduce manual reporting and grow self-service analytics across the business.
  • Take ownership of pieces of BI projects — from gathering requirements through testing and deployment — with support from the team.
  • Bring fresh energy to how we experiment with AI-enhanced BI tooling (we're actively evaluating things like AI-assisted reporting platforms) and help bring those learnings back to the team.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary and annual compensation review
  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits
  • Mental health and wellness support
  • Flexible work arrangements and hybrid work model for eligible positions
  • Paid vacation, personal and sick days
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Education funding
  • A collaborative, inclusive, and mission-driven culture
  • Exclusive access to perks and discounts
  • A flexible ‘Dress for Your Day’ environment
