Business Intelligence Analyst
About The Position
The Business Intelligence Analyst supports business decision-making by designing, developing, and maintaining metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards. The role ensures the accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality of business intelligence outputs and user data, implements reports within established frameworks and policies, and trains and supports end users. The analyst extracts and interprets financial, statistical, and other data from information systems and additional sources; collaborates on data warehouses and other reporting data sources; and works with the business intelligence manager and colleagues to assess reporting needs and deliver suitable solutions aligned with strategic goals. The position develops recurring and ad hoc business intelligence solutions, including reports, cubes, and dashboards, following industry best practices for presentation, efficiency, and usability.
Requirements
- SQL, Python, and Tableau or Power BI.
- Conceptual and practical expertise in the candidate’s discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
- Knowledge of best practices and how the area integrates with others.
- Ability to solve complex problems and exercise judgment based on analysis of multiple information sources.
- Ability to explain difficult or sensitive information and build consensus.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards used to drive business decisions.
- Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality of managerial and business intelligence reports, views, dashboards, and user data within established controls.
- Implement business reports within established reporting frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Train and support end users in accessing reports and educate the user community about potential uses of the business intelligence system.
- Analyze and interpret data and business intelligence reports.
- Collaborate on the development of data warehouses and other data sources to support reporting needs.
- Assess reporting needs with the business intelligence manager and other staff; evaluate existing reports against strategic goals and develop plans for appropriate reporting solutions.
- Extract financial, statistical, and other data from information systems and other sources.
- Design and develop recurring and ad hoc business intelligence solutions, including reports, cubes, and dashboards, with attention to presentation, efficiency, and user friendliness.
- Design reports that support efficient data assimilation, including through exception reporting.
