About The Position

Rockland Trust is seeking a Business Intelligence Summer Intern to gain hands-on experience supporting data analytics, reporting, dashboard development, and data-driven decision-making across the Bank. The intern will work alongside experienced BI developers and analysts, contribute to projects that help business teams access and understand performance data, and develop technical, analytical, and professional skills. The role includes collaboration with other interns on a real business challenge, with research, analysis, recommendations, and a presentation to Bank leadership at the end of the program. The internship offers practical exposure to BI development, data visualization, Power BI and other reporting tools, data modeling and ETL concepts, SQL and database fundamentals, data quality and testing, business process analysis, requirements gathering, project management, stakeholder communication, and presentation skills. Interns receive mentorship and opportunities to collaborate and network with professionals across the Bank.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
Basic understanding of programming concepts such as Python, SQL, or JavaScript.
Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools.
Basic knowledge of data analysis and reporting concepts.
Strong interest in business intelligence, analytics, and data visualization.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to translate information into clear and actionable insights.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Nice To Haves

Rising Junior or Senior standing is preferred.
Previous internship, academic project, or work experience involving programming, data analytics, or reporting.
Exposure to relational databases and SQL.
Coursework or certifications in Power BI, Tableau, data analytics, or related technologies.
Experience building dashboards or conducting data analysis projects.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with senior BI developers to design, build, and enhance dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI.
Assist with developing and maintaining data models, ETL processes, and reporting solutions.
Apply best practices related to data integration, transformation, and reporting.
Support projects that help business teams access and understand key performance data.
Participate in testing and validation to ensure reporting accuracy and functionality.
Assist with troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving issues in dashboards and reports.
Help monitor data quality and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Document data flows, reporting requirements, and BI processes.
Help map business processes and identify opportunities to improve reporting capabilities.
Support efforts to enhance data accessibility and reporting efficiency.
Monitor data pipelines and scheduled reports to help ensure consistent delivery of business insights.
Identify and help resolve issues affecting dashboards, reports, or reporting processes.
Support users and stakeholders by helping maintain existing BI solutions.
Collaborate with fellow interns on summer projects, research and analyze a real business challenge, develop recommendations, and present findings to Bank leadership.
