About The Position
Applied Materials is seeking a master's-level Business Intelligence Analyst Intern for its AGS Data Engineering & Analytics team in Santa Clara, California. The team develops enterprise analytics solutions, business intelligence platforms, data products, dashboard reporting, and self-service analytics capabilities to support data-driven decisions across Applied Global Services. The intern will help develop and enhance Power BI and Tableau dashboards, analyze business performance data, and support data validation, cleansing, and quality assurance. The role includes writing SQL queries, helping maintain analytical datasets in Databricks, supporting KPI and metric governance, and contributing to reporting automation and self-service analytics. The intern will work with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs, document requirements and processes, and participate in testing and deploying analytics solutions. The position also supports AI-enabled analytics initiatives, including natural language analytics and data discovery. The internship offers exposure to enterprise data engineering and analytics, business intelligence development, the Databricks Lakehouse platform, metric and data governance, reporting automation, AI-assisted analytics, cross-functional collaboration, and analytics product development. Requirements
- Currently pursuing a master's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge of SQL and core database concepts.
- Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or another data visualization tool; coursework and personal projects count.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, presentation, teamwork, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Basic understanding of data warehousing and data modeling concepts.

- Exposure to Python, Databricks, or a cloud-based analytics platform.
- A class project, competition, or prior internship involving end-to-end analysis of a real dataset.

Responsibilities
- Support the development and enhancement of Power BI and Tableau dashboards.
