About the position
The job overview for this role is that Elastic is seeking a Senior Counsel to join their Business Integrity team and lead their global investigations practice. The role will also involve providing support for Elastic's Business Integrity Program, primarily within Ethics and Compliance. Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all aspects of Elastic's internal investigations program
- Develop and implement the investigative framework and work plans
- Conduct fact gathering and analysis
- Conduct witness interviews
- Advise management on investigation findings
- Manage execution of Elastic's Investigations Guidelines
- Improve training to align with regulatory requirements and Elastic's Code of Business Conduct
- Evaluate and assign potential compliance issues for investigation
- Manage the company's ethics hotline and case management process
- Serve as a subject matter expert on legal compliance matters
- Provide legal advice and operational compliance support
- Support other Business Integrity program activities
- Develop and implement internal policies, procedures, and controls
- Partner with company leaders in cross-functional teams
- Possess a Juris Doctorate and actively licensed to practice law
- Have 5+ years of legal compliance experience
- Demonstrate leadership experience with an internal investigations program
- Possess strong organization and problem-solving skills
- Have strong policy, procedure, controls, and reporting experience
- Exhibit high standards of ethics, professional integrity, and discretion
- Possess excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Be able to work flexible hours to engage with colleagues globally
- Have experience in technology companies and/or tech-forward global enterprises (preferred)
- Have experience with third-party risk management principles and due diligence software tools (preferred)
- Hold compliance certifications (such as CCEP or LPEC) (preferred)
- Have experience in crisis management and response (preferred)
- Possess hands-on project management experience
- Be proficient with Google Workspace.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school and actively licensed to practice law.
- 5+ years of legal compliance experience, including demonstrated leadership experience with an internal investigations program at a publicly traded company with global operations; experience collaborating with cross functional teams where you thrive engaging with and learning from others.
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills; ability to navigate through ambiguity and shifting priorities.
- Strong policy, procedure, controls, and reporting experience.
- High standards of ethics, professional integrity, and discretion.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including substantial competence in writing and presentation, ability to work independently and on multiple threads at once, and handling large-scale initiatives across several teams.
- Ability and appreciation to work flexible hours to engage with colleagues around the globe.
- Consensus builder with great interpersonal skills and a good sense of humor who can collaborate and form relationships with attorneys and business clients throughout the organization.
- Prefer candidates with experience in technology companies and/or tech-forward global enterprises.
- Experience with third-party risk management principles and due diligence software tools.
- Compliance certifications, such as the CCEP or LPEC are a plus, but not required.
- Experience in crisis management and response is a plus.
- Hands-on project management experience, including the ability to lead implementation of new workflows or processes.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace.
