About The Position

We are seeking a Business Development Representative who enjoys solving complex problems with innovative solutions. This role involves business-to-business selling in manufacturing, learning how complex products are made, and traveling. The ideal candidate is energetic, self-starting, enjoys discovering ways to penetrate new markets, and wants to drive opportunities throughout the sales cycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Business, Sales, Communications or Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of two years in B2B sales position.
  • Strong communication skills including presentation skills.
  • Experience with/ interest in presenting and/or public speaking to small groups.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally.
  • Ability to work accurately with details and to take complex problems and communicate at a technical level.
  • High proficiency with Office software: Excel and PowerPoint and ability to learn new software such as Global Shop Solutions ERP, Salesforce and others.
  • Ability to work onsite in our Shelbyville, KY manufacturing facility when not traveling to customers or tradeshows.
  • Is a US Person as defined by ITAR / EAR

Nice To Haves

  • Project management skills and experience with product launch cycle preferred.
  • Metal manufacturing processes or industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify or create new market opportunities and develop a network of contacts to acquire new customers.
  • Coordinate with marketing teams to align sales strategies and solutions with market trends and customer needs.
  • Manage and oversee the entire sales project lifecycle, from initial lead qualification to client consultation, to closing deals, ensuring timelines and targets are met.
  • Liaise between the estimating, quality, production, engineering and other departments to ensure client expectations and clear and aligned.
  • Analyze historic sales statistics to identify areas of improvement and recommend sales strategies for growth.
  • Prepare and manage the sales project budget for the client as well as internally, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and profitability is met.
  • Negotiate contracts with clients and occasionally with suppliers to secure the most advantageous terms while maintaining quality and service standards.
  • Nurture leads, align sales strategies with customer needs, and tracking progress.
  • Evaluate and investigate market trends to create a plan for strategic growth.
  • Drive opportunities through the entire sales cycle, including prospecting, qualifying, presenting, proposing, and closing.
  • Identifies new business and drives opportunities through prospecting phase of sales cycle, including prospecting, qualifying, presenting and proposing.
  • Researches and analyzes trends across economy and existing/potential markets. Maintains and stay abreast of market knowledge in respective areas of responsibility.
  • Interacts with decision-makers, effectively communicating Company’s capabilities, building strategic relationships with existing customers & new prospects for product development and business development opportunities.
  • Supports or leads product launches including business plan, market price, go to market strategy and transition to fulfillment by internal teams.
  • Maintains inter-company relationships, technical information and communications to be liaison for company and customers.
  • Coordinates internal sales activities for assigned customers, insuring customers’ specific requirements are properly interpreted.
  • Analyzes data from internal systems to support decisions on new market development or product development.
  • Provides and understands customer forecast order requirements for planning purposes.
  • Communicates across departments and works with others on a regular basis to build consensus around concepts and ideas.
  • Collaborates with voestalpine global colleagues regarding shared opportunities and best practices.
  • Collaborates with Management on sales pricing, customer satisfaction, sales representation, trade shows, marketing and market development, sales training, forecasting and budgets.
  • Supports and contributes to marketing program, maintaining corporate compliance, effective marketing of brand and maintaining positive customer image, which leads to generating new sales.
