About The Position

Nexus Sports Ventures is looking for a relentless, commercially minded Business Development & Revenue Growth Manager to help drive the next stage of our growth. This is not a traditional marketing role, and it is not a role for someone who wants to simply manage an existing book of business. We are looking for someone who loves building relationships, finding opportunities, selling, closing partnerships and figuring out how to grow revenue. You will work directly with the President & CEO and have significant ownership over the growth of a multi-brand youth enrichment organization serving thousands of children across Long Island and Eastern Queens. Your job is simple to describe: Help us grow. That means opening new doors with schools, childcare centers, camps, municipalities and community organizations; expanding our existing partnerships; increasing enrollment in our public programs; and identifying new opportunities that can materially grow the business.

Requirements

  • Approximately 5+ years of relevant sales, business development, partnerships or revenue-growth experience.
  • A demonstrated track record of generating meaningful revenue.
  • Experience prospecting and developing new business rather than only servicing existing accounts.
  • Experience managing a sales pipeline from initial outreach through close.
  • The confidence to conduct cold outreach and walk into prospective partner locations.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience managing or mentoring employees.
  • Strong business judgment and comfort working with numbers.
  • The ability to identify opportunities without waiting to be told what to do.
  • Strong follow-through and personal accountability.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout Long Island and Eastern Queens.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience selling products or services to schools, school districts, preschools, childcare organizations, camps, municipalities, recreation departments, youth organizations or multi-location businesses.
  • Existing relationships throughout Long Island or Queens.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and close partnerships with organizations including public and private schools, school districts and PTAs, preschools and childcare centers, municipalities and parks & recreation departments, summer camps, soccer clubs and youth organizations, community centers, and other organizations serving children and families.
  • Prospect, make calls, conduct in-person visits, run discovery meetings, develop proposals, negotiate agreements and move opportunities through the pipeline until they close.
  • Identify the biggest opportunities to grow company revenue, which may include launching programming with a new school district, expanding partnerships, increasing enrollment at underperforming locations, developing new programs, expanding existing customers into other Nexus programs, reactivating previous families, or finding entirely new revenue opportunities.
  • Analyze enrollment by location, season, class and age group and develop plans to increase registrations and fill available capacity for public programs.
  • Work with operations and marketing teams on strategies including promotions, demos, customer outreach, re-enrollment campaigns, new locations, schedule changes and local partnerships for public programs.
  • Continually look for ways to expand successful partnerships into additional locations, days, seasons, camps and school-break programs, additional age groups, different Nexus programs, or additional schools/facilities within the same organization.
  • Build strong relationships with partners while always looking for ways to create additional value for both organizations.
  • Manage the Partnerships Coordinator and potentially oversee additional team members supporting revenue growth, setting clear expectations, reviewing pipeline activity, coaching outreach and selling skills, establishing weekly priorities, and holding the team accountable for results.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to work directly with the owner of the business.
  • Strong ideas can become initiatives quickly.
  • Opportunity to help determine where we expand, which partnerships we pursue, what programs we launch and how we build our revenue organization.
  • Opportunity to become a critical leader inside a growing organization and have a direct, measurable impact on its success.
  • The partnerships you create ultimately give more children access to programs that help them become active, confident and excited about sports and movement.
