We are seeking a results-driven, highly motivated Business Development Representative to join our sales team in Cranford.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. (Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Marketing, or related field)
  • 0–2 years of sales, logistics, or customer-facing experience preferred.
  • Strong interest in sales and international trade.
  • Confident communication skills (phone, email, in-person).
  • Self-motivated with a goal-oriented mindset.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to learn freight forwarding procedures and industry regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and research prospective customers and target industries within assigned markets.
  • Support new business development efforts while assisting in maintaining existing accounts.
  • Assist the Vice President of Sales and Regional VP in preparing bids, RFQs, and customer quotations.
  • Support outbound sales efforts including calls, emails, LinkedIn outreach, and follow-ups.
  • Participate in joint sales visits and customer meetings with senior sales team members.
  • Learn to quote freight costs and prepare proposals under supervision.
  • Respond to sales inquiries and assist with lead follow-up in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain and update sales activity and pipeline information in CRM.
  • Support sales campaigns and local business development initiatives.
  • Assist in managing allocated customer accounts to ensure service satisfaction.
  • Conduct follow-ups with new clients after initial shipments.
  • Coordinate internally with operations, pricing, and customer service teams.
  • Ensure customer requests are handled promptly and escalated when necessary.
  • Learn and adhere to client service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Support discrepancy documentation through the Innovations and Incidents Management (IIM) system.
  • Gain foundational knowledge of freight forwarding operations (Air, Ocean, Customs Brokerage).
  • Develop understanding of pricing structures, margins, and trade lanes.
  • Assist in coordinating with pricing teams to request carrier rates and build competitive quotations.
  • Learn how service capabilities and operational constraints impact pricing strategy and customer proposals.
  • Support internal communication between Sales, Operations, and Finance to ensure alignment on customer solutions.
  • Attend industry-related functions alongside senior team members when required.
  • Participate in ongoing sales and compliance training.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations prescribed by U.S. Customs, IATA, TSA, FMC, and other governing authorities.
